Healthy Ginger & Lemon Plum Soda Recipe

Today we are making a Healthy Ginger & Lemon Plum Soda Recipe! This drink is a unique mocktail made with the perfect balance of club soda, lemon, ginger and juicy plums – a fantastic combination that’s something different to wow your friends and family, or make for just yourself on a Friday night! If it’s summer and you have leftover plums from that plum tree in your backyard (or maybe other stone fruits like peaches or cherries), then this is a great way to use them up during that time of year. Or even if you don’t, I would go out of my way to get ripe plums just to make this. Making a big batch of this recipe is the perfect way to have it ready to go in the fridge when you’re reaching for sugar-filled drinks!

Making a mocktail is a great alternative for those who are avoiding alcohol, refined sugar, or are just looking for healthier drinks to make at home. Maybe it’s just me, but some of the most refreshing drinks are made with fresh fruit, which hits the sweet spot between having natural sugar and a sweet drink!

However, you can use ginger ale for a sweeter drink, or a little vodka if you want to make it with alcohol. Then top it with some fresh basil before serving, for a colorful, sparkling plum basil cocktail! This recipe is made with just two simple steps: blend together all the ingredients, then strain. Why You’ll Love This Ginger & Lemon Plum Soda Recipe

Alcohol & Sugar-Free: No alcohol and no refined sugar in this recipe!

For that “fizzy” feeling, we use club soda, however you can also use regular water or sparkling water instead. There’s no sugar or simple syrup added to this drink, because using five plums contains a lot of natural sugar (however, if you want a sweeter drink, then you can add a little bit of pure maple syrup). There’s also no alcohol here, which makes it healthier and something you can make for all your friends and family, as it’s made of all wholesome foods!

Substitutions

Plums: Try substituting the plums with peaches for a peach-ginger drink! I used black plums in this recipe, which are sweeter than red plums. For a sour plum drink, you can use red plums. Do not substitute with plum juice.

Ginger: Use fresh ginger, not a ground ginger powder.

Lemon: Use fresh lemon juice, or substitute with freshly squeezed lime juice. The fresh flavors taste much better! Pre-bottled juice has a more acidic taste.

Club Soda: Substitute with a quarter cup water (sparkling water, soda water or chilled plain water). You can also use ginger ale, but it has added sugar like most soft drinks do.
