Creamy Vegan Chocolate Avocado Milkshake Recipe

Today we are making a Creamy Vegan Chocolate Avocado Milkshake Recipe! Picture this: a glass filled with pure, velvety delight where rich chocolate meets the luscious creaminess of avocado and frozen banana. It’s like a dessert mousse, milkshake edition!

Avocado and frozen banana are the dynamic duo behind that luxurious thickness. Avocados bring this incredible creaminess to the game without a hint of dairy. But when you toss in frozen bananas, you’re not just adding sweetness; you’re creating a texture that’s so thick, you’ll need a spoon to slurp it up. These frozen wonders not only chill your milkshake to perfection but also make it incredibly smooth and satisfying. So, get ready for a milkshake that’s not just thick with flavor but thick with wholesome goodness too!

Why You’ll Love This Creamy Vegan Chocolate Avocado Milkshake Recipe

Decadently Creamy: This milkshake achieves its velvety texture without any dairy! It’s not just avocado doing the magic; we’re tossing in some ripe bananas to make this thing silkier than a velvet scarf on a chilly evening. You won’t believe how it swirls on your tongue, like a creamy dance party right in your mouth!

Healthy Indulgence: Avocados are the stars of this show, giving us that creamy goodness without the dairy drama. But wait, there’s more! They’re also delivering those good-for-you fats and a basketful of essential nutrients.

Kid-Friendly: This milkshake is the ultimate secret weapon in your culinary arsenal. The kiddos won’t be able to resist the chocolaty magic. And guess what? You’re sneaking in the health factor with avocados like a kitchen ninja. They’ll be begging for more, and you’ll be patting yourself on the back for being the coolest adult in town.

Substitutions

Avocado: The fats in avocado make this recipe much creamier than it would be without the avocado. Do not substitute. You can buy a bag of frozen avocado, or cut up and freeze your own in a freezer-safe container or freezer bag.

Banana: Frozen banana provides a much creamier base than room temperature banana does. You can buy a bag of frozen banana, but if you have any bananas that are getting spotty and too ripe, they would be perfect for using in this recipe. Medium-spotty bananas, not too ripe and not too spoiled, will be perfect. You can chop them up and freeze them the night before for this recipe, and it will be cheaper (and less packaging) than buying a bag of frozen banana.

Oat Milk: Oat milk works great in this recipe because of its slightly sweet and nutty flavor. However, you can substitute your favorite vegan milk with a neutral taste, like cashew milk, almond milk or another plant-based milk. To keep it refined sugar-free, choose your favorite vegan, unsweetened milk of choice that does not contain any added sugar.

Maple Syrup: You can control the amount of sweetener as desired in this drink, so there is not as much sugar as a milkshake would have. Substitute with another liquid, natural sweetener, like agave nectar.

Vanilla Extract: For best results, use pure vanilla extract, without added artificial colors and dyes (like caramel color). You can use artificial vanilla flavor as well. However, it may come off as more bitter and not as smooth or sweet as the pure version.

Cacao Powder: This is raw, unprocessed version of cocoa powder. You can also used regular unsweetened cocoa powder. For cacao, I love the brand Organic Traditions, or check out the natural aisle of your local grocery store.

Creamy Vegan Chocolate Avocado Milkshake Recipe Notes

  • Gay Lea brand makes delicious coconut cream based whip. This is usually next to the regular aerosol cans of whipped cream in the grocery store. For a non-coconut-base, ReddiWhip makes an almond based whip instead. There may be other brands providing soy-based whip instead of a nut-based one as well, depending on where you live.
